Innerhalb des Projekts soll ein nachhaltiges Mobilitätskonzept entwickelt werden, das die Entschärfung der transalpinen Transportengpässe im Güter- und Warenverkehr unter Nutzung der existierenden (Schienen-) Infrastruktur zum Inhalt hat.

Kernaufgabe des Projekts ist die Förderung kostengünstiger Alternativtechniken für die Internetanbindung, die auf dezentraler Ebene anwendbar sind. Dadurch werden Impulse für die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung ländlicher Regionen erzeugt und Multiplikatoreffekte gefördert.

Um die Probleme des überhöhtem Energieverbrauch und CO2- Emission im europäische Wohnungsbestand anzugehen und die EU-Standards für Energieeffizienz umzusetzen, hat sich BEEN die Entwicklung von technischen, rechtlichen, institutionellen und finanziellen Strategien und Instrumenten zur energieeffizienten Sanierung zum Ziel gesetzt. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei im mehrgeschossigen Wohnungsbau der 50er bis 90er Jahre.

Die grenzüberschreitende Kooperation fast aller regionaler Raumplanungsinstitutionen des Elbebeckens soll innerhalb von ELLA Herausforderung des vorbeugenden Hochwasserschutzes meistern. Dieses Netzwerk ermöglicht eine fast vollständige räumliche Einbeziehung des Einzugsgebietes der Elbe und benachbarter Regionen.

Das Interreg III B – Projekt EuRoB II baut auf dem seit 2002 etablierten Netzwerk von Partnern mit Bezug zur Backsteingotik auf. Der DV koordiniert das bis Ende 2007 geförderte Projekt, im Rahmen dessen sich die nunmehr 34 Projektpartner die Aufgabe gestellt haben, das touristische Produkt EuRoB nachhaltig am Markt zu etablieren. Zu diesem Zweck wird die Vermarktung zielgerichtet verstärkt, der Kontakt zur Tourismusindustrie vor Ort wie auch international intensiviert, die angemessene Nutzung und Inwertsetzung des Backsteingotikerbes angestrebt wie auch kritisch beleuchtet und schließlich eine nachhaltige Struktur für das Management der Route schrittweise umgesetzt.

Mit diesem Projekt wird die historische Via Regia in ihren östlichen Ausläufern wiederbelebt. Ziel ist es, für diesen paneuropäischen Transportkorridor III eine Raumentwicklungsstrategie zu erarbeiten, die als Basis künftiger ökonomischer Entwicklung sowie der weiteren Integration der EU und ihrer Nachbarn dienen soll. Den Fokus bilden Kernstädte, Metropol- und Grenzregionen gleichermaßen.

Das Ziel von HERMES ist die Förderung einer nachhaltigen regionalen Entwicklung durch ein innovatives Zusammenspiel von kulturellem Erbe und Neuen Medien. Der Fokus des Projekts liegt auf der Steigerung der regionalen Identität durch die Verbesserung der Wahrnehmung der Kulturdenkmäler unter Einbeziehung neuer Medien und durch die Erhaltung historischer Stätten durch neue Nutzung.

Hist.Urban entwickelt integrierte Konzepte, Strategien und Handlungsempfehlungen für die nachhaltige Stadtentwicklung kleiner und mittlerer historischer Städte und ihrer Regionen. Dabei steht die Bewahrung und Inwertsetzung des baulich-kulturellen Erbes im Vordergrund.

Die Raumordnung definiert sich über geographische und thematische Räume und Achsen, die einem stetigen Anpassungsprozess ausgesetzt sind. IdeQua ist der erste Baustein für die Einrichtung einer europäischen Nord-Süd-Achse gemeinsamer Identität und Qualitätskriterien zur Förderung des Tourismus.

Ziel des Projekts ist, auf Basis integrierter Planungsansätze neue Initiativen für die Rekonstruktion und Möglichkeiten für die Umnutzung leer stehender Gebäude in Großwohnsiedlungen zu entwickeln, durch Pilotprojekte die soziale und ökonomische Situation zu verbessern und somit einen Beitrag zur Stabilisierung der dieser Wohngebiete zu leisten.

PlanCoast stellt sich der Herausforderung, das ökonomische Potenzial der Meere nachhaltig zu nutzen und größtmögliche Synergien zwischen verschiedenen Interessensgruppen herzustellen. Durch den Einsatz Geographischer Informationssysteme (GIS) und einer maritimen Raumplanung wird die Basis geschaffen, Integriertes Küstenzonenmanagement auch auf nationaler Ebene umzusetzen. Dafür werden zahlreiche Pilotprojekte im Ostseeraum, der Adria und dem Schwarzen Meer initiiert.

PlaNet CenSE stellt ein Netzwerk von nationalen Raumplanungsinstitutionen und Experten im gesamten CADSES-Raum dar, das mit Hilfe des Projektes VISION PLANET aufgebaut werden konnte. Die einmal begonnene Zusammenarbeit soll nun fortgesetzt und inhaltlich fokussiert werden.

Grundidee von RENET ist die zunehmende Notwendigkeit auf Seiten der öffentlichen Hand, sich sowohl mit den Ansiedlungslogiken der großen und bereits seit längerer Zeit transnational agierenden Handels- und Immobilienunternehmen als auch den strukturellen Erfordernissen der ortsansässigen, kleinteiligen Handelsbetriebe auseinander zu setzen.

Das Projekt zielt auf die Stärkung polyzentrischer Städtesysteme und die Unterstützung der Regionalentwicklung im CADSES - Raum. Für dieses Ziel hat VITAL CITIES ein transnationales Projektteam aus wichtigen Interessensvertretern zusammengestellt, die gemeinsam an umsetzbaren Lösungen für die lokale Ebene arbeiten werden.

The ADHOC project has been created to overcome existing conflicts and to enable common strategic actions for a sustainable development. Within the project the partners will develop and exchange innovative solutions and implement exemplary measures in public-private cooperations.

Within this project sustainable concepts for mobility are to be developed, aiming at enhancing the difficult transalpine transport situation in the freight sector, using the existing (rail) infrastructure.

In order to tackle the problems in contribution to energy waste and CO2 emission in the European housing stock and comply with EU standards with regard to energy efficiency, the BEEN project aims to develop strategies and instruments – technical, legal, institutional and financial – that promote EER of residential buildings in the Baltic Sea Region, focussing on the multi-storey housing stock erected between 1950 and 1990.

The basic idea of the Baltic Rural Broadband project is to promote broadband accesses in rural areas as part of local and regional infrastructures. The crucial point of the project is to establish a stable IT related network to facilitate and to promote the exchange of information and knowledge on transnational levels.

The transnational co-operation of nearly all regional spatial planning authorities of the Elbe basin shall help master the challenge of flood prevention within the project ELLA: This unique comprehensive network realises almost full spatial coverage of the catchment area of the Elbe and even neighbouring regions.

An INTERREG III B-project of the German Association. For visitors and local population of the Baltic sea region brick gothic shall become more attractive. Therefore the outstanding brick gothic monuments of the Hanse period will be in the focus of attention. The project aims at strengthening the economic factor tourism of cities and communes in the Baltic Sea region.

GreenKeys focuses on the improvement of urban green spaces situation and benefits towards sustainable cities by developing a "Pool of Green Strategies" (instruments, methods and new typologies).

The intention of HERMES is to promote and support sustainable regional development through innovative interactions of cultural heritage and new media. The project aims at upgrading regional identity by improving the perception of heritage with the help of new media tools and at maintaining historical sites by new uses.

Hist.Urban develops concepts, strategies and recommendations how to use the built-cultural heritage as an asset for an integrated and sustainable urban development to strengthen small and medium sized historical cities and their region.

Spatial structures are defined by geographic and thematic spaces and axes exposed to permanent adaptation processes. IdeQua is supposed to become the initial component for the establishment of a European North-South axis serving a common identity and quality criteria for promoting tourism.

LHASA aims at contributing to the stabilisation of large housing areas by integrated planning efforts (zoning plans), new initiatives for the reconstruction of the housing estates and possibilities to reuse vacant buildings, and through pilot measures to improve employment and social inclusion.

PlaNet CenSE is a network of national spatial planning institutions and experts of the CADSES region established as a consequence of VISION PLANET. The co-operation started with this early project will now be continued with a thematic focus.

The INTERREG IIIB project Rail Baltica focuses on the development of the Trans-European railway Rail Baltica, linking Helsinki – Tallinn – Riga – Kaunas – Warsaw and continuing on to Berlin/Brandenburg.
Economic integration of the Baltic States and Poland with Western Europe leads to growing trade and traffic. Therefore it is important to create well furnished and sustainable transportation links, which at the same time will promote economic growth and integration of this region.

The main idea of RENET is the ever growing necessity for public bodies to deal with the logic of settlement of large enterprises that have already been acting on transnational level as well as with the structural requirements of local, small scale retailers. Within a dynamic, "learning” network intersectoral and integrated development plans and processes, strategies for revitalising city centres as well as strategic, public-private partnerships will be developed and tested.

The project aims at strengthening polycentric urban systems and contributing to regional development in the CADSES region. For this aim, VITAL CITIES has gathered a transnational project team in which the main stakeholders are represented and will jointly work on solutions applicable on local level.
